Ntse do's and don't s

NTSE, wherein more than fifty lakh of students from all over India, compete to become the “Pride of the Nation”,  is considered as the toughest scholarship test. NTSE is not just another competitive examination, but it’s an honor to be recognized as a national talent and that’s the reason why the tag of “NTSE Scholar” earns a lot of respect in society.

With the stakes so high and the competition so tough, a strong preparation strategy and a disciplined approach are a must to crack NTSE.
So here are some dos and don’ts for NTSE that will help you to ensure your selection in this most prestigious exam:-
Do’s
Improve your grip over the theoretical subjects
In order to maximize your score, you must have a firm command on theoretical subjects like social studies, biology, etc.

Don’ts
Don’t study for LAT
Yes, you read it right. Do not prepare for the LAT section at all. It is just a qualifying part and the marks of this section will not contribute in your merit rank.
Do’s
Refer state-board books for Social Sciences preparation
While preparing for NTSE Stage-I, refer state-board books for Social Sciences. In NTSE, the majority of questions of Social Sciences are asked from state books so don’t ignore their importance.
Don’ts
Don’t rely on irrelevant study material
Due to lack of proper guidance, many students buy junk study material which ultimately results in the wastage of their time and money. Rely on standard study material like that of NTSE Guru, Sabakuch E-mock etc. to give your best shot at NTSE.

Do’s
Keep a track of your preparation
You must track your preparation and implement necessary changes as you move along your path. By doing so, you will become aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, study in an organized and productive frame to reach the pinnacle.

Don’ts
Don’t get engaged in social networking sites
Social networking sites, as suggested by almost everyone, is the biggest hurdle in any competitive preparation and NTSE is no exception.
NTSE city topper, Mukesh Pareek, currently studying in IIT Mumbai, stresses very hard on it. According to him, “I found social networking sites, by far, the biggest distraction during my preparation of NTSE. I quit on social networking during my NTSE and cracked it easily. It also helped me a lot during my IIT-JEE preparation.”

Do’s
Follow a well-structured preparation plan
To excel in a highly competitive exam like NTSE, you must rigorously follow an efficient plan that will help you navigate through your preparation in an organized way. Prefer quality rather than quantity.
Like, devote at least three 3 hours in the morning for MAT Practise and 2 hours in the evening for SAT preparation. You can also include mock test practice in the later phase of your NTSE preparation.
Don’ts
Don’t compromise with your health
Take the proper diet and in an adequate amount to sustain you through long exam hours. A right diet is a must to energize your system and avoid any malfunction. Make sure that you sleep for a full night prior to NTSE, to start refreshed in the morning.

Do’s
Polish your preparation by appearing in standard test series
Appearing in the standard NTSE test series like that of NTSE Guru, Aryan, aglasem will not only help you to analyze where you stand in your NTSE preparation, but they will also help you a lot in developing accuracy. The number of mock tests in which you appeared, will surely impact your confidence and your chances to crack NTSE.
You can also visit the mock test section of NTSE Guru to know your current standing in NTSE.
Don’ts
Don’t get stuck at any question
Leave a question that cannot be solved within your pre-decided time frame. This will not only give a wonderful boost to your confidence but will also reduce the panic feel that might rise if you’ve wasted around 5-10 minutes over a question. If you cannot solve a question in your pre-decided time frame, then just leave and move on.
